48th International EPTA Conference TEMPO NORDICO

Timing, Nature and Nurture in Piano Music and Education

August 20-23, 2026

Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT)

Tallinn, Estonia

We at EPTA Estonia are thrilled to welcome everyone to  Tallinn, where, after several amazing annual conferences in the Mediterranean basin, the focus will now shift northwards to the Baltic Sea ― not only geographically, but also mentally. We have chosen the ambiguous metaphor “Tempo Nordico” for our slogan, to allow a wider array of ideas and approaches to piano performance and pedagogy to find their platform, and to inspire new ways of thinking about place and time in music!

Call for proposals: OPEN NOW!

The conference is looking for submissions in two topic categories:

- Tempo and timing in performance and education

- Nature and nurture in piano music and education

The following presentation formats are available:

Spoken paper (20-25 minutes)

Lecture-recital (20-25 minutes)

Workshop - demonstration (30-35 minutes)

Symposium (3-6 participants; 30-35 minutes)

NB! The organizers are responsible for technical support only. All proposals must include a full description of the equipment needed.  The conference will take place in a hall with two pianos on stage.
